On Sunday night, Selma Blair was arraigned in Queens on two counts of second‑degree assault after she bit a Delta flight attendant and later kicked a police officer.
Lawyer Joshua Reitzas urged Judge Indira Khan to consider Blair's acting career, labeling her a "gold standard", but the judge rejected any special treatment.
The incident unfolded on Delta Flight 938 bound for Los Angeles, when Blair's sudden outburst forced crew to restrain her. She later landed at JFK, was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where she kicked a nurse in the chest and struck a police officer.
Judge Khan set bail at $20,000 cash or a $60,000 bond. Blair posted the bond and was released pending further court dates.
The flight attendant who was bitten reported a swollen jaw and discomfort, while the nurse said the assault occurred at about 2 a.m. during transfer.
Blair will face a follow‑up hearing later this month, with the court expected to rule on the charges in the coming weeks.
