TVK Chief C Joseph Vijay will become the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after proving he commands a majority in the state Assembly, Governor R N Ravi confirmed on Monday. Vijay submitted letters of support from coalition partners and independent MLAs at Raj Bhavan, securing the Governor's invitation to form the government.
Vijay, a former actor turned politician, led his party to a significant electoral performance and forged alliances with regional and national parties to reach the majority mark. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday at a public event in Chennai, with coalition partners finalizing ministerial allocations.
As per constitutional mandate, Vijay must prove his majority on the floor of the Legislative Assembly within 14 days of assuming office. The Speaker will notify the special session, and a vote of confidence is expected by the end of the week.
