CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were freed from Delhi jail on Wednesday after a week in custody over an alleged unauthorized entry at Jantar Mantar, and they have now given formal undertakings to the Special Executive Magistrate court.
The undertakings, filed on the same day, pledge that the two will not call for any protest at the historic site until it is officially de-notified, while promising to keep future demonstrations within constitutional bounds.
Ranka and Das, who have been at the center of a broader CJP campaign against the Election Commission’s handling of voter rolls, reiterated their "full faith" in the judiciary and the SEM court, asserting that they will obey all law‑and‑order directives.
The court is expected to review the undertakings in a hearing scheduled for next week, after which the leaders will remain under surveillance until the protest restrictions at Jantar Mantar are lifted.
