Finn Allen struck a maiden IPL century, an unbeaten 100 off 47 balls, to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to an eight-wicket win over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, chasing 143 with 34 balls to spare. Allen hit 10 sixes in his innings, earning Player of the Match honors in a crucial playoff-contending fixture.
Allen acknowledged early struggles in the tournament and said time out of the playing XI helped him reset mentally. "I was putting too much pressure on myself at the start," he said, adding that a focus on adaptability and responsibility during the innings was key after KKR lost early wickets. He emphasized adjusting to quality spin, particularly from Axar Patel, by staying in strong batting positions.
The New Zealand batter credited coaches Shane Watson and Abhishek Nayar for helping refine his approach, noting he had previously been frustrated by failing to convert starts. He said his aim now is to stay at the crease and respond to match situations rather than focus on individual stats.
Allen’s innings marks a turning point in his IPL 2026 campaign and strengthens KKR’s position in the playoff race. The team will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday at Eden Gardens.
