Mohit Sharma, the former India pacer who took 134 wickets in 120 IPL games, has signed on to be Chennai Super Kings’ new bowling coach.
The 38‑year‑old, who last played for Delhi Capitals, will replace Eric Simmons. He’s a familiar face for CSK, having spent four seasons on the field for the franchise.
CSK chief executive Kasi Viswanathan told TimesOfIndia.com that Zaheer Khan recommended Sharma after his stellar spell with Gujarat Titans, where he claimed 41 wickets in two seasons.
Viswanathan added that the coaching panel will see more changes in the coming weeks, all green‑lit by Khan.
Sharma’s résumé includes a Purple Cap win in 2014, a joint third‑highest wicket‑taker in the 2015 World Cup, and a smooth transition to retirement last December.
With the new coaching setup, CSK aims to tighten its bowling attack for the 2026 IPL, eyes the upcoming season, and looks to outpace rivals in the chase for the title.
