Vellore District Collector V. R. Subbulaxmi has declared a local public holiday on May 15, 2026, for the annual Sirasu festival at Arulmigu Gangaiamman Temple in Gudiyatham. The festival, held on the first day of the Tamil month Vaikasi, draws large crowds and requires coordinated administrative support.
The Collector, alongside Superintendent of Police U. Sivaraman, chaired a preparatory meeting at the Collectorate to finalize crowd control plans. Designated routes with temporary shelters will guide devotees, while temporary shops and amusement rides are banned to prevent congestion.
Authorities will install CCTV cameras along the festival route and deploy additional police personnel for security. Uninterrupted power supply, extra bus services, and facilities for drinking water, sanitation, and medical aid will be provided.
The festival is scheduled to take place on May 15, with all departments commencing final preparations ahead of the event.
