Finn Allen blasted an unbeaten 47-ball 100, laced with 10 sixes and five fours, to power Kolkata Knight Riders to a commanding victory over Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026 at Delhi on Friday, May 8. The result kept KKR in contention for a playoff spot in the tournament.
Former South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Mark Boucher, commentating on JioHotstar, described Allen as one of the few players in world cricket capable of such powerful and clean hitting. Boucher highlighted Allen's range and control, noting that once settled past 20 or 30, few could match his ability to strike the ball, citing effortless pick-up shots and straight drives as key elements of his innings.
Boucher identified the early dismissal of KL Rahul as a turning point, stating that Delhi Capitals rely on the senior batter to anchor their innings and manage tempo through the middle overs. Rahul's failure to progress past the powerplay for the second time in the tournament weakened DC's structure.
Allen's assault left Delhi's bowlers, including Mitchell Starc, under sustained pressure throughout his innings. His performance came at a critical juncture for KKR, who need strong finishes in their remaining matches to secure a top-four position.
KKR are scheduled to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match on May 12, with the outcome likely to determine their playoff qualification chances.
