More than 100 people, including dozens of children, fell ill in Dhani Gaskan village in Rajasthan's Kotputli-Behror district after eating sweets served at a wedding on Friday. Symptoms included vomiting and stomach pain, prompting emergency medical response from local health authorities.
The sweets, including rasmalai, were prepared the night before the event and distributed during the ceremony, according to local officials. At least 29 individuals, including 16 children and 14 adults, were transferred to Shahpura community health centre for further treatment, while others were treated at the Atela community health centre.
Sub-Divisional Officer Kapil Kumar Upadhyay confirmed that food samples have been collected by the food safety department and sent to a laboratory for analysis. Most patients have since been discharged after their conditions stabilized.
Administrative and health department teams have reached the village to assess the incident and prevent further cases. The lab results are awaited to determine the cause of contamination, officials said.
