Israeli forces launched strikes in Gaza on Wednesday, marking the third anniversary of the Oct 7 Hamas attacks, and reported five deaths, including two at Al‑Shifa hospital and a volunteer for the civil defence agency.
The blasts echoed from the Nova music festival site, where families gathered at dawn to mourn the more than 300 festival‑goers killed three years earlier.
Al‑Shifa hospital confirmed two fatalities, while the civil defence agency named Mohamed Tamous, a volunteer who also served as a sniper in Hamas's military wing, among the dead.
In Khan Yunis, Nasser Hospital reported the death of 60‑year‑old Hisham Ibrahim Abu Mustafa and the body of Ziad Zaarab, both casualties of Israeli strikes.
Israel said it targeted two Hamas terrorists who had left Kamal Adwan Hospital and planted explosives near the Yellow Line, a demarcation between Hamas‑ and Israel‑controlled areas.
With Israel maintaining control over about 60 % of Gaza and the ceasefire in force since October 2025, the latest assault has intensified calls for a renewed international diplomatic effort to address the humanitarian crisis, as Gaza's health ministry reports a staggering 74,200 deaths.
