Andhra Woman Stranded in Muscat Returns Home After Pawan Kalyan's Intervention

Shehnaz, a native of Valmikipuram in Annamayya district, Andhra Pradesh, returned to India on Friday night, May 8, 2026, landing at Hyderabad airport after being stranded in Muscat, Oman, where she had appealed for help through a social media video citing harassment and denial of food and water. Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan confirmed her safe arrival and credited coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Muscat for the successful repatriation.
Shehnaz, who hails from Vayalpadu village, had posted a video detailing her distress, which went viral and prompted Pawan Kalyan to intervene. His office initiated contact with Indian diplomatic officials and local agents in Muscat and Mumbai to facilitate her return, maintaining communication with her family throughout the process.
In a statement on X, Pawan Kalyan thanked the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Embassy in Muscat, Omani authorities, the Jana Sena Gulf wing, NDA allies, and the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Association for their support. He said Shehnaz visited his office on Saturday, May 9, before returning to her hometown.
The Deputy Chief Minister affirmed the Andhra Pradesh government's commitment to assisting Telugu nationals abroad during crises and acknowledged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's support. Shehnaz’s case will be reviewed by state welfare officials to determine further assistance.
