Gujarat Titans openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan equalled the IPL record for most century partnerships by an opening pair, achieving their ninth century stand together during their side's clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The GT duo stitched together a century opening stand, matching the record held by legendary Royal Challengers Bengaluru pair Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle.
The pair brought up their 100-run stand in just 8.1 overs, dominating the Rajasthan Royals bowling attack with aggressive strokeplay and excellent running between the wickets.
With this partnership, Gill and Sudharsan also equalled the record for the most century stands for the opening wicket in IPL history, matching the achievements of iconic Sunrisers Hyderabad duos David Warner & Shikhar Dhawan and Abhishek Sharma & Travis Head.
The match saw Rajasthan Royals stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal win the toss and opt to bowl first against Gujarat Titans, with GT making one change to their playing XI and RR including Shimron Hetmyer and Yash Raj Punja.
The Gujarat Titans will look to build on their strong start, while the Rajasthan Royals will aim to bounce back from the loss, with the next match in the IPL schedule to be announced shortly.
