Seventy-seven employees were honoured with awards for exceptional service during the 70th Railway Week celebrations hosted by the Mysuru Division of South Western Railway on May 9, 2026. A total of 22 received the Rail Seva Puraskar (RSP), while 55 were conferred DRM Appreciation Awards, in recognition of their dedication and contributions to Indian Railways' operations and development. The event was presided over by Divisional Railway Manager Mudit Mittal at the divisional headquarters in Mysuru.
Awards were presented across multiple categories, including infrastructure and operational excellence. Chikjajur Station received the Best Maintained Major Station Shield, while Honnavalli Road Station won the minor station category. Shivamogga and Molakalmuru railway colonies were recognized as best maintained major and minor colonies. Rake No. 16217/18 (Mysuru–Sainagar Shirdi Weekly Express) received the Best Maintained Rake Shield, and Subramanya Road Running Room was awarded the Best Maintained Running Room Shield. Chitradurga secured two shields: for Best Maintained Traction Sub Station and Best Maintained SSE/Signal Section. Hassan Section won for telecommunication maintenance, and Sakleshpura for the Best Maintained Accident Relief Train. Traction Operations received the Innovation Shield, and the Mechanical Department office in Mysuru was named Best Maintained Office.
The ceremony included a felicitation of retired and senior railway staff for their long service. Cultural performances by students of Lalitha School, Mysuru, were held alongside the event. Attendees included Additional DRM Shammaa Hameed, branch officers, union representatives, members of SWRWWO, and families of awardees. Mudit Mittal praised the recipients, stressing safety, punctuality, and teamwork as critical to railway operations.
The division stated the event underscores its commitment to recognizing excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Railway Week celebrations will conclude with routine safety audits and departmental reviews across the division in the coming week.
