Pakistan posted 305, Sri Lanka 268, a 37‑run victory for the hosts.
The turning point came in the sixth over when Naseem Shah’s short ball slipped past the batter, sending Avishka Fernando top‑edge to the deep fine‑leg.
Debutant keeper Saad Baig was on the line but mis‑judged the high catch, dropping the ball. Ashraf, perched behind Baig, slipped into the relay and snatched the ball, sealing the wicket.
Salman Ali Agha’s 107 off 90 kept Pakistan’s innings on track, while Babar Azam’s 45 also fueled the chase. The century pushed Babar’s tally beyond 16,000 runs, a milestone few Pakistanis have reached.
With the win, Pakistan keeps its hopes alive for the Tri‑Series final, while Sri Lanka will look to regroup before the next leg of the tournament.
