Former London Police Officer Charged in Luxury Goods Refund Fraud
A former Metropolitan Police officer appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with defrauding luxury retailers and misusing official police systems to facilitate a refund scam. Sunna Harrison-Aziz, 28, allegedly obtained thousands of pounds worth of goods from brands including Christian Dior, Cartier, and Moncler by falsely claiming online orders never arrived.
Prosecutors allege Harrison-Aziz improperly accessed police databases between January and September 2022 to support the fraudulent claims. The items involved include a £2,000 Cartier wedding band, a £700 Dior bikini, and a £2,599 Apple MacBook. Investigators from the Met’s Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command also accused the former officer of destroying her mobile phone to obstruct the investigation following a search of her south London home.
Harrison-Aziz has denied all charges, including fraud, misuse of police powers, and perverting the course of justice. During the hearing, District Judge Daniel Sternberg rejected a defense request to grant the defendant anonymity, citing the public interest in the proceedings despite defense concerns regarding her mental health.
The case has been transferred to Southwark Crown Court for a further hearing scheduled for June 2. Harrison-Aziz remains on unconditional bail pending her next appearance.
