Nellore police have arrested three men—Chintagunta Venkateswarlu, 19, Pari Narasimhulu, 21, and Ilaganur Srinivasulu—for allegedly carrying out a series of lorry battery thefts in the Vedayapalem UNC limits. Officers recovered 14 stolen batteries and a car valued at ₹1.45 lakh from the suspects.Officers said the accused targeted trucks parked for repairs in the Autonagar area, exploiting their routine downtime. Police identified the suspects following a surveillance operation launched after a spike in battery thefts, with instructions from Nellore Superintendent of Police Ajitha Vejendla to address the rising incidents.The arrests were made on Friday, May 8, after the team caught the trio in the act of stealing two batteries. The operation was led by Vedayapalem police under the supervision of Nellore Town Assistant Superintendent of Police Deeksha.The Superintendent of Police commended the Vedayapalem team for their swift action in apprehending the suspects and recovering stolen property. Further investigation is ongoing to determine if the accused are linked to similar crimes in neighboring areas.
