KEC International’s latest win pushes its India T&D order book past ₹13,500 crore, according to a BSE filing, with about ₹9,500 crore coming from the sector itself.
The ₹2,872 crore contract covers the design, supply and installation of 765‑kV transmission lines that will evacuate 8.5 GW of renewable energy from Gujarat—making it the biggest single order in the company’s history. Vimal Kejriwal, MD and CEO, said the win comes amid strong momentum in the T&D business, underscoring confidence in India’s expanding transmission needs.
On the trading floor, the stock slipped 1.5% to ₹327 on the NSE, a drop that aligns with the company’s 56% year‑to‑year decline in market value. The BSE filing did not include new guidance, but Kejriwal hinted at continued growth prospects driven by rising energy demand.
India’s T&D market is tightening as the country pushes to strengthen grid capacity, with the government earmarking billions for high‑voltage projects. KEC’s order portfolio now sits at a level that could cushion the company against volatility in a sector where many peers have seen orders stagnate.
Looking ahead, KEC will report its Q4 results on November 20, and investors will be watching for any updates on its debt‑management strategy and potential expansion into other infrastructure segments.
