TTV Dhinakaran, chief of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), has accused actor-politician Vijay's Tamil Nadu party, TVK, of forgery or horse-trading after reports emerged that his lone MLA was backing Vijay. Dhinakaran announced his party's support for the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and submitted a letter to the Governor, backing AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami for the chief minister's post.
Dhinakaran described the alleged letter of support from his MLA to TVK as either a forgery or horse-trading, demanding action against the party. He stated that his MLA, S Kamaraj, had signed a letter of support to the AIADMK, which was submitted to the Governor.
The development comes as TVK chief Vijay met the Governor on Friday, reportedly submitting letters of support from 116 MLAs, two short of the majority mark. Sources said Vijay has not been invited to take the oath as the chief minister on Saturday.
The immediate outlook is that the Governor will investigate Dhinakaran's claims, and the AIADMK will attempt to form a government with the support of other parties. The Congress has sequestered its five Tamil Nadu MLAs in Hyderabad amid the uncertainty, and the court is expected to take further action in the coming days.
