PM Modi Marks Anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Reaffirms Counter-Terror Resolve

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, characterizing the tri-services military action as a definitive response to cross-border terrorism. The operation was launched on May 7, 2025, following a terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
Marking the occasion on social media, the Prime Minister stated that the operation reflected India's unwavering commitment to national security. The mission involved a coordinated campaign by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, targeting nine major terror camps and strategic infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan, including the Nur Khan and Rahimyar Khan airbases.
The military campaign utilized an Integrated Command and Control Strategy (ICCS) to facilitate real-time threat identification and neutralization. During the conflict, Indian forces successfully intercepted retaliatory Pakistani drone and UCAV strikes using a multi-layered air defense grid, which included the indigenously developed Akash surface-to-air missile system.
Modi highlighted that the operation showcased the 'growing jointness' of the armed forces and the success of India's self-reliance in the defense sector. He noted that the precision strikes were intelligence-led, ensuring the destruction of terror infrastructure with minimal collateral damage.
Security agencies remain on high alert along the border as the government continues its policy of proactive engagement against terror networks. The Ministry of Defence is expected to review current border infrastructure and surveillance capabilities in a scheduled briefing later this week.
