Malayalam actor Madhu was presented with the Krishnanjali Award at his residence on Saturday, according to G. Rajamohan, president of the Vayalar Ramavarma Cultural Forum. The award was presented by former Chief Secretary K. Jayakumar, son of film director M. Krishnan Nair, in recognition of Madhu's contributions to Malayalam cinema as an actor, director, producer, and studio owner over a span of more than six decades.
The award ceremony was attended by prominent figures from art, culture, and literary spheres, including Pramod Payyannur, member secretary of Bharat Bhavan, who read out the citation.
Madhu reminisced about his association with Krishnan Nair, saying they shared a deep friendship beyond the director-actor relationship, and that the bond had extended to his son Jayakumar too.
The award marks the 25th anniversary of Krishnan Nair’s passing and the 50th anniversary of Vayalar’s death. On May 10, a commemorative gathering will be held at Bharat Bhavan to mark the 25th anniversary of Krishnan Nair’s death, which will be inaugurated by K. Madhu, chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC).
