Gautam Singhania, the 53‑year‑old chairman of Raymond Group, is slated to speak at 5:30 pm on the first day of the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi. The two‑day gathering, themed "A World Between Orders", will convene leaders from policy, business and technology sectors to chart post‑pandemic trajectories.
Singhania joined the family firm in 1986 and, by 1999, had risen to director, before becoming managing director in 1999 and chairman‑MD in 2000. He steered the company away from steel and cement, turning it into the world’s largest integrated worsted‑suiting fabric producer and pioneer of Super 250s in 2015.
He has received the Maharashtra government's Maha Udyog Shri for industrial excellence and NDTV’s India Centurion Award in 2024, underscoring his reputation as a modern industrialist. His legacy includes launching brands like Park Avenue and the iconic KamaSutra line, cementing Raymond’s status as a household name.
The summit, hosted at the Delhi International Convention Centre, will run from 9 am to 9 pm over two days, with 200 delegates expected. Singhania’s address is scheduled to precede a panel on "Digital Textile Innovation" at 6:30 pm, where he will join the CEO of TCS and a climate‑policy expert.
During a pre‑summit briefing, Singhania told reporters that "the future of textiles hinges on sustainability and technology, and Raymond is committed to leading that change." His speech will also highlight the company’s new "Raymond 2.0" restructuring, which split the conglomerate into three focused entities.
After the panel, the summit will shift to a keynote by former UN Secretary‑General Ban Ki‑Moon, setting the stage for the next day’s discussions on global supply chains.
