Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna said the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report for 2024 establishes that Uttar Pradesh has a lower crime rate than the national average. The state recorded a crime rate of 180.2, compared to the national crime rate of 252.3, which Krishna attributed to the continuous and well-planned efforts of the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The DGP stated that over the last 9 years, the state has implemented various measures such as modern police stations, active Anti-Romeo squads, and dedicated women help desks, which have helped establish the rule of law in Uttar Pradesh.
Krishna also highlighted that the state police remains committed to providing a safe and accessible environment for citizens to file complaints without fear or hesitation, and that even small complaints received through digital platforms are taken seriously and converted into FIRs wherever required.
The state government's efforts will continue to focus on maintaining law and order, with the court and police proceedings expected to reflect the improved crime rate in the coming months, according to official sources. The police department will also continue to work towards building a more sensitive, accessible, and transparent force under the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
