Malkajgiri Police Book 516 Cases in Drive Against Footpath Encroachments

Malkajgiri Traffic Police registered 516 cases and imposed fines totaling ₹74,900 during a special enforcement drive on Wednesday against footpath encroachments and carriageway obstructions in Trimulgherry and Malkajgiri. The operation was conducted in coordination with local civic authorities to clear unauthorized obstructions and restore pedestrian access.
Officials said the drive targeted illegal occupation of footpaths by vendors, unauthorized parking, and other blockages disrupting pedestrian movement and traffic flow. Encroachments were physically removed to reopen footpaths and reduce congestion on major roads, particularly during peak hours.
Police warned that such obstructions force pedestrians onto roadways, increasing accident risks. Violators were penalized under relevant traffic and municipal laws, with authorities issuing strict warnings against future encroachments.
Authorities stated that similar enforcement drives will be conducted regularly to ensure sustained compliance, improve pedestrian safety, and maintain unobstructed traffic movement in the area.
