Rajpal Yadav Fires Back at Minister After Daler Mehndi’s Stage Attack

The stage at Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Fair turned into a battleground when Minister Subodh Uniyal launched a scathing critique of Daler Mehndi—calling the veteran singer disoriented and insinuating he was intoxicated. The minister’s words cut deeper than the usual political banter, sparking an immediate backlash from the entertainment community.

Rajpal Yadav, known for his razor‑sharp wit in films like "Hum Aapke Hain Koun!", took to Instagram to call the minister’s language “inappropriate” and to defend Daler’s health. He reminded followers that the singer, who once graced the set of "Welcome To The Jungle," is battling serious medical issues and that “art is life,” urging respect for the artist.

Daler Mehndi, whose iconic beats defined a generation, has been in the news not just for his music but for his struggle with a serious illness. Despite the controversy, his legacy remains intact, with fans echoing the sentiment that a man’s health should never be used as a political tool.

The reaction from the industry was swift: Anupam Kher, Kapil Sharma, Badshah, and Mika Singh all posted statements condemning the minister’s remarks. Their unified front highlighted the film and music community’s collective stance on protecting artistic integrity.

Uniyal, however, defended his comments by citing a Rs 35 lakh fee he paid for Daler’s performance and alleging that the singer was lip‑syncing. He maintained that the singer’s conduct did not uphold the standards expected from a big artist, framing his words as a protective measure rather than an attack.

As the debate heats up, fans and insiders alike are watching closely to see how Daler will respond and whether the government will reassess its role in cultural patronage. The incident has become a touchstone for discussions on respect, accountability, and the fine line between critique and harassment in India’s entertainment sphere.
