India expects a US team to visit the country for the next round of trade talks, though no dates have been finalized, according to an official. The Indian side visited Washington, D.C. in April for in-person meetings with their US counterparts to finalize the details of the interim agreement and advance negotiations under the Broader Bilateral Trade Agreement.
The April meeting resulted in both sides agreeing to maintain engagement and sustain momentum for the trade talks, with discussions covering areas such as market access, non-tariff measures, and digital trade.
India and the US issued a joint statement on February 7, finalizing a framework for an interim trade agreement and reaffirming their commitment to the broader India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement negotiations.
The trade between India and the US has seen marginal growth, with India's outbound shipments to the US increasing by 0.92% to $87.3 billion in the last fiscal year, while imports rose by 15.95% to $52.9 billion.
The court is not involved in this matter, but the Indian and US officials will continue to engage in talks; the next steps include finalizing the dates for the US team's visit to India for further trade discussions.
