BJP MP Jagadish Shettar reviewed the progress of centrally-aided projects in Belagavi district, including infrastructure and development works by the Railways, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and Airport authorities. Officials informed him that asphalting work on nearly 4 km of the 9-km Halaga-Machhe bypass stretch has been completed, while service road construction is in progress.
Land acquisition for nearly 37 km of the 48-km Bagalkot highway has been completed, with compensation amounting to ₹270 crore already distributed to farmers. The entire process is expected to be completed by February 2027.
The Deputy Commissioner, Mohammed Roshan, stated that the six-laning work on the Belagavi-Sankeshwar highway is nearing completion. However, the delay by the State government in releasing the required funds is delaying the construction of the Belagavi-Kittur-Dharwad railway line.
The MP has promised to resolve certain complications in the acquisition process and directed NHAI officials to construct service roads and cattle crossings as demanded by farmers. The next steps will involve the continuation of construction work on these projects, with the authorities expected to provide updates on the progress in the coming weeks.
