Delhi High Court Defers Hearing on CBI Plea Against Discharge of Kejriwal, Sisodia

The Delhi High Court on Friday deferred hearing on the CBI's petition challenging the trial court's discharge order in the liquor policy case until May 11, citing the need to appoint senior lawyers to represent AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Durgesh Pathak. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said she would pass the necessary order on the appointment on Monday and begin hearing the matter on Tuesday.
The trial court had discharged Kejriwal, Sisodia, and 21 others in the liquor policy case on February 27, ruling that the case was wholly unable to withstand judicial scrutiny and stood discredited in its entirety.
The CBI has filed its response to the applications challenging the maintainability of its petition, and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta will address the issue when he begins his submissions.
The court will resume hearing on the matter on Tuesday, with the appointed senior lawyers representing the AAP leaders. The immediate next steps will involve the court's consideration of the CBI's petition and the responses from the accused persons.
