TTV Dhinakaran, general secretary of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), has rejected claims by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) that his party's lone MLA, Kamaraj S, has extended support to Vijay's coalition. Dhinakaran called the letter and video of support 'fake' and 'AI-generated,' demanding proof of authenticity and questioning who recorded the footage and where it was taken.
The AMMK leader said he was 'shocked' to learn from media reports that Kamaraj had backed the TVK, emphasizing that no such decision was authorized. He challenged the TVK to produce the original letter and questioned why Kamaraj was not taken to the governor if support was genuine. Dhinakaran also raised concerns of political horse-trading, suggesting the video could be part of a larger effort to manipulate coalition dynamics.
The TVK, which emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats but currently holds 107 after Vijay won two seats, has secured backing from the Congress, CPI, and CPM, totaling 116 MLAs. It needs two more legislators to reach the 118-mark required for majority. With AMMK and IUML refusing support, attention has shifted to the VCK, which holds two seats and could determine the outcome.
The Tamil Nadu political crisis remains unresolved as the governor has yet to invite any alliance for government formation. The court of public and legal scrutiny over the authenticity of the support letter and video is expected to intensify, with the next moves likely involving direct engagement with the VCK and potential legal or procedural challenges.
