Yash Bets on Industry Unity by Co-Producing Namit Malhotra's Ramayana Epic

Yash is co-producing Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana alongside Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, a move driven by a shared vision to elevate Indian cinema globally. The film, which opens November 5, has already generated significant buzz with advance bookings crossing Rs 5.46 crore.
It’s not the script that pulled Yash into the producer’s chair. It was a conversation in Los Angeles. The KGF star sat down with Namit Malhotra, and the talk drifted far beyond box office targets. It was about the ceiling of Indian cinema. Malhotra wanted to shatter it. He wanted the industry to stand on the same level as Hollywood, not in imitation, but in stature. Yash heard that ambition and signed on, attaching his Monster Mind Creations to Prime Focus Studios. It’s a rare co-production setup that signals a shift from star power to structural power.
At the pre-launch event in Hyderabad, Yash didn’t hold back. He didn’t talk about his character. He talked about the audience. Specifically, he asked for something radical: unity. He called out the Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi industries by name. "For once, let's come together if you like the film," he said. It’s a direct appeal to the siloed nature of Indian cinema. He wants the world to see one India, not five competing markets. The Ramayana, he argues, is in everyone's blood. It belongs to no single industry.
The numbers back the hype. Sacnilk reports Rs 5.46 crore in advance bookings as of 3 pm Wednesday. That’s 92,872 tickets sold across 3,470 shows. Hindi markets are leading the charge, but the demand is clearly pan-India. The film releases in two parts, with the first instalment hitting theatres on November 5. The second part will follow next year. This is a game-changer for mythological epics in terms of scale and distribution.
Yash’s move is strategic. By co-producing, he’s betting on the long-term viability of the franchise. He’s not just acting in a movie; he’s investing in a cinematic universe. And he’s betting that the Indian audience is ready for it. The question is, will the industry listen? Will they put aside their egos and support a film that transcends language and region? The answer will be at the box office. But for now, the signal is clear: Yash is all in.
