
Seema Kumari sprinted to a bronze medal in the women’s 10,000m at Nagoya, finishing in 32:50.05.
The race stayed tight for most of the 25 laps. In the final 400 metres, Kumari surged ahead, leaving the field behind.
Gold went to Winfred Yavi with 32:39.18, silver to Nozomi Tanaka at 32:41.54. Kumari’s time marks India’s first women’s 10,000m medal in 16 years.
With this podium finish, India boosts its overall medal tally. The team now eyes the marathon and remaining track events as the Games move toward the final days.
