Tejashwi Yadav, Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, criticized former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over dynasty politics on Friday, saying they have no moral right to speak on the issue. Yadav made the comments while addressing the press at the party office in Patna, a day after the Cabinet expansion in Bihar.
Yadav pointed out that three Ministers in the new Cabinet are sons of former Chief Ministers of Bihar, and nearly 17 sons and daughters of former politicians are part of the Cabinet. He also criticized the appointment of Ministers without a public mandate, including Nitish Kumar's son Nishant and Upendra Kushwaha's son Deepak Prakash.
Yadav targeted PM Modi, recalling that during election campaigns, Modi used to refer to him as 'Shahzade' (Prince), and asked the leaders of the BJP and JD(U) to explain who the real 'Prince' is.
The Cabinet expansion has been criticized for lacking regional and caste balance, with certain communities denied representation. Yadav also condemned the police for resorting to lathicharge to disperse aspirants of the Teacher Recruitment Examination demanding the release of the examination notification.
The Bihar government will likely face further criticism and opposition from Tejashwi Yadav and the RJD, with the issue of dynasty politics and Cabinet representation expected to be raised in the Legislative Assembly. The court will not be involved in this matter, but the State government may be forced to respond to the allegations and criticism from the opposition.
