A 65-foot Trishul structure will be unveiled at Kailasagiri in Visakhapatnam on Saturday at 8:15 a.m., inaugurated by Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat and Andhra Pradesh Minister Ponguru Narayana. The structure, built by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) at a cost of ₹3 crore, is installed on the northern side of the hilltop and is visible from the National Highway and multiple city vantage points.
The Trishul, made of Fibre-Reinforced Plastic (FRP), took eight months to complete and is engineered to withstand cyclonic winds and seismic activity. It features internal LED lighting for night visibility and includes a 10-foot-high Damarukam and a 25-foot ornamental section. Components were fabricated in Pune and assembled on-site, with a 30-foot viewing platform constructed around the structure.
Kailasagiri, spanning 380 acres and located 360 feet above sea level, already hosts statues of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, a ropeway, landscaped gardens, and adventure facilities like a glass bridge and zipline. VMRDA officials said the Trishul was added to reinforce the site’s spiritual identity and enhance its appeal as a tourist destination.
The proposal followed public feedback and was approved by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh. VMRDA Chairman M.V. Pranav Gopal said the authority plans to continue developing landmark features at Kailasagiri to promote sustainable tourism and public engagement.
