A total of 5,714.5 kg of banned tobacco products, including gutkha, were destroyed in Cuddalore district on Sunday, May 10, 2026, pursuant to a court order. The products, seized in 23 cases across the district, were buried and destroyed under the supervision of Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar.
The destruction process was carried out in accordance with legal procedures and involved officials from the Food Safety Department, municipal sanitation wing, and police personnel.
The banned tobacco products were seized from various police stations in the district and were disposed of safely.
