CCTV footage from the road outside the ashram captured Lodhi tumbling onto the pavement at about 10:35 a.m., with a green stole wrapped around his neck.
A senior police officer told reporters that Lodhi had been admitted to a nearby hospital that morning with injuries. He is a Jabalpur resident who had been staying at the Guru Kripa Kunj Ashram, affiliated with Keli Kunj.
Forensic analysis uncovered six injury sites: a broken femur, fractured ribs, severe head wounds and the loss of private parts. A grinder was found in his room and investigators are checking its fingerprints while a blood sample has been sent for toxicology testing.
Police plan to interrogate key attendants at the ashram as part of the investigation, which is being handled by the Uttar Pradesh Police's special task force.
