Congress Workers Block Agra-Mumbai Highway in Indore Over Farmers' Issues
Congress workers blocked the Agra-Mumbai National Highway in Indore on May 7, 2026, staging a 'chakka jam' protest in the Pigdambar area over farmers' issues, causing major traffic disruption on the arterial route. The protest was part of a Congress-organized state-wide demonstration in Madhya Pradesh demanding better farm price guarantees and policy reforms.
Vikrant Bhuria, national president of the Adivasi Congress, accused the BJP-led state government of failing to secure minimum support prices for crops and alleged irregularities in the soybean Bhavantar Yojana. He claimed agricultural mandis had been taken over by corporate interests and said the party would escalate its agitation in phases.
Bhuria stated the protest would continue across the state in a phased manner, with further actions planned if demands are not met. The Indore police maintained order at the site, and normal traffic resumed after the demonstration concluded.
