Police in Dausa district allege that a 16‑year‑old girl was assaulted by a group of men near the Delhi‑Mumbai Expressway, leading to a premature birth that ended in stillbirth. The attack was reported after the victim arrived at a local hospital with the newborn.
Superintendent Kundan Kanwaria confirmed that the minor was taken to the Kolwa police station for a statement and that the case was registered under Section 376(A). A deputy superintendent has been assigned to lead the investigation.
The girl underwent a full medical examination and is currently stable in a government hospital, with doctors ruling that the pregnancy complications were unrelated to the assault.
A named suspect was detained and is being questioned, but police have not yet released any evidence linking him to the crime.
This incident follows a 15% rise in reported sexual violence cases in Rajasthan over the past year, prompting the state government to intensify patrols in rural areas.
A court hearing is scheduled for 30 March, and charges are expected to be filed against the suspect by the end of the week.
