India Appoints Lt Gen N S Raja Subramani as New Chief of Defence Staff

The Indian government has appointed retired Lieutenant General N S Raja Subramani as the new Chief of Defence Staff, effective upon assumption of charge. He succeeds General Anil Chauhan, whose term concludes on May 30, 2026.
The Government of India has appointed Lieutenant General N S Raja Subramani PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd.) as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), effective from the date he assumes office. He will also serve as Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Military Affairs for a term extending until further orders.
