Assam NDA Government Swearing-In Scheduled for May 12; PM Modi to Attend

The swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected BJP-led NDA government in Assam will be held on May 12 at the Veterinary Field in Khanapara, Chief Secretary Ravi Kota announced. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states are expected to attend the event alongside industry representatives.
Chief Secretary Kota conducted a comprehensive review with the Director General of Police on Wednesday to finalize security, traffic management, and protocol preparedness for the Prime Minister's visit. All concerned departments have been directed to maintain the highest level of readiness to ensure the ceremony is conducted securely and in accordance with established protocols.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has tendered his resignation to Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and will continue to lead the caretaker government until the new administration is formed. The ruling NDA returned to power for a third successive term, winning 102 of the 126 Assembly seats, with the BJP securing 82 constituencies and allies BPF and AGP winning 10 each.
The BJP has appointed Union Minister J.P. Nadda and Naib Singh Saini as observer and co-observer for the election of the legislature party leader. The election of the leader is expected to take place on May 10.
