Pune Woman Critically Injured After Lover Slashes Throat; Writes Attacker's Name Before Losing Speech

PUNE - A 22-year-old woman remains in critical condition after her former lover allegedly slashed her throat with a blade at her home in Pune on Monday, police said. The accused, Dilip Rathod (22), was arrested shortly after the victim identified him by writing his name on paper despite being unable to speak.
The victim, Ujaladevi Jaswant Singh Dohre, and Rathod worked together at a mall and were previously in a relationship that had turned sour in recent days, according to police. Rathod allegedly entered her residence while she was alone and attacked her before fleeing. Dohre contacted her brother, Bhagat Singh, via call and video, stating she had been attacked and was severely injured.
Police said the victim was unable to speak when officers arrived at the hospital but gestured for a pen and paper to write "Dilip Rathod," leading to his swift arrest. Investigators confirmed the relationship between the two and are probing the motive behind the attack.
Dohre is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of a private hospital. Police said the investigation is ongoing and further details will be revealed as the case develops.
