Pranavi Urs hoisted the Asian Games individual gold after a bogey‑free 8‑under‑60 finish, making history as India’s first woman to win the title.
The match was almost a heartbreak in the third hole of the final round. A triple bogey wiped out a three‑shot lead, but Urs didn’t crumble – she steadied herself and shot a blistering 60 to finish 8‑under.
"It was a test of nerves," Urs told the Times of India from Mysuru. “I lost the lead, but I didn’t let that define my day. My support system—family, coach, psychologist—kept me grounded.” Her career highlights include winning the IGPL Invitational in Mumbai against male competitors, a 60‑shot finish, and a silver in the team event with Aditi and Diksha Dagar.
The gold has already sparked a surge in interest for women’s golf. Karnataka’s government pledged ₹1 crore for the individual gold, while the IGPL added another ₹1 crore. The win signals a turning point for women’s sports in India and could inspire a new generation of golfers.
Next up, Urs will represent India at the 2026 World Championships, where she’ll test her skills against the globe’s best.
