FIIs dumped ₹5,353 crore, dragging the Nifty to 22,780 and setting a new low for the month.
On Monday, FIIs bought ₹9,047.56 crore of shares but sold ₹14,400.78 crore, a net outflow of ₹5,353.22 crore, the biggest single‑day sell‑off in the last 12 months.
Domestic institutional investors, by contrast, net bought ₹5,189.02 crore, balancing purchases of ₹15,918.32 crore against sales of ₹10,729.30 crore.
The trend began on Friday, when FIIs shed ₹3,693.93 crore, while DIIs added ₹2,838.17 crore, signalling a shift in investor sentiment.
The heavy FII outflows coincided with a 360‑point dip in the Nifty and a 1,124‑point slide in the Sensex, as the index fell to its lowest point since April 2.
With the Nifty up 2% YTD but flagged for its worst first‑half performance in four years, analysts warn of continued volatility ahead of the next earnings cycle.
