BJP Leader's Aide Shot Dead in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress Blamed

Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, was shot dead by unidentified assailants on a bike in North 24 Parganas' Madhyamgram on Wednesday night. The incident occurred less than 200 meters away from Rath's home, and his driver, Buddhadeb, was injured in the attack.
Rath's mother, Hasirani Rath, has blamed the Trinamool Congress for the murder, alleging 'gundagardi' (hooliganism). She has demanded life imprisonment for the perpetrators and called for justice for her son.
Suvendu Adhikari has called the killing a 'pre-planned' and 'cold-blooded murder' and alleged that the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election results triggered the murder. The Trinamool Congress has condemned the murder and blamed 'BJP-backed miscreants' for post-poll violence.
A special investigative team has been set up to investigate the murder. The team will look into the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the perpetrators. The case is expected to be taken up by the court soon, with the next steps including the filing of charges and the beginning of the trial.
