The 81st anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory in World War II was commemorated in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday, hosted by the Honorary Consulate of Russia, the International Russophile Movement, and the Russkiy Mir Foundation. Events took place in Thiruvananthapuram and Koodankulam, drawing participation from Russian nuclear specialists and local attendees.
Organizers staged a series of activities, including photo exhibitions showcasing the war's timeline and victory celebrations, as well as educational seminars. A symbolic 81-metre-long St. George Ribbon was displayed by 81 participants, reflecting the anniversary year.
Russian representatives at the event recounted personal family losses during the war, emphasizing the historical significance of the victory. The photo exhibition ran through Sunday, after which all public activities concluded.
