Israel Defence Forces (IDF) carried out a series of air strikes in Gaza on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, the third anniversary of the Hamas‑led Oct. 7 assault that killed over 300 civilians.
The attacks targeted areas near the Nova music festival site in Gaza City, where mourners gathered at dawn to honour the victims of the 2023 massacre.
Al‑Shifa hospital confirmed that two civilians were killed in the overnight strikes, including Mohamed Tamous, a 28‑year‑old volunteer with Gaza’s civil defence.
The IDF released a statement the following day, saying it would continue operations until Hamas concedes, and will reassess targeting to minimise civilian harm.
Families of the deceased have called for international intervention, while the United Nations has urged restraint from both sides.
