Humpy finished 7/10 on board one, securing India both team and individual bronze medals at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand.
The decisive moment came in the final round when she outmaneuvered Georgia's Nana Dzagnidze in a 25‑move thriller, clinching the individual medal.
Throughout the event she battled diarrhoea, stomach ache, and a persistent bout of fever, yet she kept playing – even a video caught her taking medicine before a game.
Her teammates praised her grit, noting she would have rested if not for representing India. She kept her focus on the board, refusing to let illness dictate the outcome.
With the medals secured, Humpy will now turn her attention to upcoming international events, aiming to build momentum for the World Cup qualifiers.
