Tamil Nadu Opens Overseas Scholarships for Adi Dravidar, Tribal Students
The Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department of Tamil Nadu has launched the Annal Ambedkar Overseas Higher Education Scholarship Scheme for the 2026-27 academic year, inviting applications from students of the Adi Dravidar, Adi Dravidar converts to Christianity, and tribal communities to pursue Master’s or PhD programmes at foreign universities. Applicants must have secured admission in a university ranked among the top 1,000 in the QS World University Rankings and have a family income not exceeding ₹12 lakh annually.
Master’s applicants must be under 35 years of age, while PhD candidates must not have completed 40 years. Candidates are required to submit documents including admission letters, community and income certificates, academic mark sheets and degrees, Aadhar and ration cards, passport, salary slips, income tax returns, and photographs through the official portals www.tnadw.gov.in/overseas_scholarship or www.tnadwscholarship.in.
Applications are being accepted online from May 5 to June 5, 2026. Students may contact the toll-free helpline 1800-599-7638 for admission-related queries.
The department will review applications and announce awardees in due course; the scholarship aims to support higher education access for historically marginalized communities.
