MES to Expand Presence in Kerala's Healthcare Sector
The Muslim Educational Society (MES) said on Wednesday it is planning to focus more on the healthcare sector in Kerala, with plans to set up new hospitals in Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Alappuzha. The MES already operates a medical college at Perinthalmanna in Malappuram district.
According to Hameed Fazal Gafoor, Kozhikode district secretary, MES, the healthcare sector in Kerala is facing a challenging period due to rising treatment costs and the acquisition of private hospitals by foreign equity firms.
The MES plans to invest in the sector to provide affordable healthcare, with both big and small hospitals offering various types of treatment.
The new government in Kerala will have to address the crisis facing the healthcare sector, including solving problems with projects such as the Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi and Medisep, to prevent private hospitals from withdrawing from them. The MES's expansion plans are expected to be implemented in the coming months, with officials saying they will work closely with the state government to provide quality and affordable healthcare to the people of Kerala.
