Prime Minister Narendra Modi has criticized the Congress party for its indecision in selecting a chief ministerial nominee in Kerala, accusing the party of stabbing its own leaders in the back. The Congress party, led by Mallikarjun Kharge, has not yet announced its chief ministerial pick in Kerala, despite winning a landslide victory in the state's Assembly elections.
The party is currently considering three candidates: KC Venugopal, Ramesh Chennithala, and VD Satheesan, with Venugopal emerging as the frontrunner. According to sources, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi supports Venugopal for the chief minister's post.
PM Modi also criticized the Congress party for its internal disputes, citing examples from Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. He called the Congress a parasitic party that betrays its allies and is known for internal fights over power and money.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar refuted PM Modi's remark that there is infighting in the state, saying that all chairs are stable. The Congress party is expected to finalize its chief ministerial nominee in Kerala soon, with the state's governor likely to play a key role in the decision-making process. The party's leadership will resume discussions on the matter in the coming days.
