Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate railway infrastructure projects worth ₹1,535 crore in Telangana on May 10, 2026, to enhance rail connectivity, reduce congestion, and boost operational efficiency on major routes. The projects fall under the South Central Railway zone and are part of a national effort to modernize rail infrastructure.
The key project includes multiple sections of the 118-km Kazipet–Vijayawada multi-tracking initiative, which will increase line capacity on the Grand Trunk rail corridor, a critical freight and passenger route. Railway officials said the upgrade will improve train punctuality, speed, and freight capacity across the region.
Modi will also commission the Kazipet Rail Under Bypass, designed to decongest Kazipet Junction by enabling simultaneous train movements toward Hyderabad, Balharshah, and Vijayawada. The bypass is expected to streamline traffic management at one of South Central Railway’s busiest junctions.
The Rail Ministry stated the projects will support logistics efficiency and regional economic activity. Officials confirmed the improvements align with the central government’s broader infrastructure modernization program.
The Prime Minister will address a public function in Kazipet to mark the inauguration. The Rail Ministry will release operational details following the event.
