Government Whip Adi Srinivas said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy introduced a historic 42% quota for BCs in Telangana, but the Centre failed to approve it. Mr. Srinivas questioned what the BJP's eight MPs from Telangana had done for BC communities.
At a press conference, he stated that the Telangana government conducted a caste census to ensure no legal hurdles in implementing BC reservations.
Mr. Srinivas posed 10 questions to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding clarity on issues including the delay in implementing a nationwide caste census and the absence of OBC enumeration in the upcoming census.
The Congress leader alleged that the BJP was avoiding a comprehensive caste census despite publicly supporting it.
The Centre will likely respond to Mr. Srinivas's questions, and the issue of BC reservations is expected to be discussed further in the coming days.
