Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for infrastructure projects worth ₹9,400 crore in Telangana on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in Hyderabad, pledging intensified central support for the state's development as part of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Speaking at the event, Modi stated that state-level development was central to national progress, regardless of the ruling party at the state level.
The projects include the Zaheerabad Industrial Park (National Institute of Manufacturing Zone), an IOC terminal at Malkapur, and the multi-tracking of the Kazipet-Vijayawada railway line, aimed at transforming Telangana into a manufacturing and logistics hub. Modi highlighted that the Zaheerabad corridor would be developed as a smart city with global investor facilities, while the PM Mitra Park in Warangal would revive the textile sector with full applicability of central subsidies, including the PIL scheme.
Modi responded to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's appeal for Gujarat-style development by offering full central benefits, conditional on political alignment, saying, "It is better you join me." He noted that railway funding for Telangana had increased from under ₹1,000 crore to ₹5,500 crore, with over ₹50,000 crore worth of projects currently underway, including five Vande Bharat and six Amrut Bharat express services.
The Centre has allocated over ₹2 lakh crore for highway development nationwide, including the four-laning of the Mahbubnagar-Gudeballur stretch on the Hyderabad-Goa corridor, which will benefit both Telangana and Karnataka. The Malkapur IOC terminal was launched to strengthen energy security and supply chain infrastructure, with national initiatives in ethanol blending and piped gas networks also underway to reduce fuel dependency.
The government will continue expanding infrastructure and industrial investments in Telangana, with upcoming project reviews scheduled for June 2026 to assess progress on job creation and implementation timelines.
